“It’s always more than a few bees, Baloo...” 

round  head   rests   upon  soft  paws  ,     the  great  black  panther   soaking   up  the  sun  :     her  dark  fur   easily   absorbs  the  heat  ,     &   so  after  a  time  the  feline   slides   from  the  rock  she   basks   upon  to  instead  search  for  a   shady   tree  too  cool  off  in               &   instead  finds  her  path   crossing   with  a  familiar   bear  .     ❛     baloo  .     ❜     hues  green  as   emeralds   reflect  the  dappled  sunlight  as  she   approaches   her  friend  .     ❛     how  are  your  preparations  for   HIBERNATION   coming  ?     ❜

                                                        Keep peace with the Lords of the Jungle

Some morning this turned out to be... 

First, Kit woke up remembering that he didn’t have any dinner last night, thanks to the garbage truck that hauled off his usual raiding dumpster earlier than usual. Secondly, the lady he was trying to pick-pocket from had caught him, leading the boy down the police station. So off Kit was hauled from the outskirts of the city, all the way down to the Police Station.

The officer had the cub by the collar of his shirt, making sure he couldn’t escape once they left the squad car. “Aw c’mon! It was just a car that I was trying to unlock...” he complained as he was carried off. “She wasn’t using it anyway, plus I left something in there that was mine...” 

The wolf stopped and looked down. “That’s not what she told us kid.” The larger animal then thumbed through a book that was behind a counter. “There ya are. You’re gettin’ to be a regular around here aren’t ya? Looks like we’re gonna have to mark you down in the books then send ya off to Juvie.” Kit didn’t like what he was hearing at all. 

“Juvie?!” He was only ten! There’s no way he’d survive there for eight years! “No wait! I’m too young to go!” Kit needed to get out of here and fast. It was then that he spotted a large grey bear nearby. What he was doing the cub didn’t know or care, but he knew one thing. His ticket to freedom had just arrived. “Gramps! Over here!” he called out hoping to get the other bear’s attention. “Hey! I’m over here!”

“His name is Mowgli and he’s going back to the Man Village right now.”

“Man village?! They’ll ruin him! They’ll make a man outta him!” 

“Papa Bear. Papa Bear wake up.” Mowgli said in a hushed tone as he glanced back at the sleeping panther, known as Bagheera, who was in a tree nearby. “You wanna go have some fun while Bagheera’s asleep?” He hadn’t figured out what they could do, but anything to put distance between himself and the Man Village was alright with him.
