I look up from staring at my cup too long and then look at Josh, but it does not stop from my stomach from churning every time Ana starts nibbling at his ear lobe.
Ana was not even a fan of him, and was not even her type, according to her. But of course, she took the chance that he had money and that he is a nice guy, so she went for it. At first, I was okay about it and did not bug me at all.
But once she kept bringing him everywhere I got to know him, the once innocent crush turned into love. His personality was so alluring, so fresh and sincere that it was impossible to avoid it.
"Nothing is wrong," I lied and even added a smile so he could believe me. "Just I am tired and I do not want to bowl anymore. So I will see you tomorrow guys tomorrow."
I gather my sweater and my purse, said my goodbyes and headed out the door into the parking lot.
As soon as I started to open the keys to my car, I start to hear screaming from my friend Ana and then Josh. They started going at it in the parking lot.
"I fucking knew it," she seethed. "And you?!" She started to scream at me. "Consider us not best friends anymore, fucking backstabber."
She marches down the sidewalk and disappears within the crowd. Josh turns to look apologetically and starts walking towards me.
"Josh, you better go after, she can get pretty impulsive when she is angry," I warned. "I don't even know what happened."
He takes a deep breath and holds my hands.
"I know you love me Reagan," he admitted.
He smiled at me and tucked a hair behind my ear. "I can see the way you look at me when I am talking to you. You are interested in everything I say, laugh at all my dumb jokes and care about me. Ana never did that."
"So where is this going Josh?" I asked curiously. He slowly backs me up to my car and leans his forehead against mine.
"Turns out I am in love with you too," he whispered. "You actually want me for me, not because I have the fame or the money and every time you never went out with us, I would miss you so much to the point that it got Ana jealous," he explained.
"Then I told her I was in love with you last night and was denial, that is until 5 minutes ago."
I laugh softly and before I know it, he leans and gives me a soft but lingering kiss. This has been something I have been dreaming about since day one and now it has finally come true.
We stop and we smile at each other.
"Let's introduce ourselves again. I am Reagan and you?"
"I am Josh Hutcherson and I am proud to call you, my beautiful Reagan, my girlfriend."
No more was said until later.
Where we got lost with another the whole night.
