he's a puppet to the whims of others. he went from his puppeteers being his parents, to jack, and now he's still having to deal with chuck wanting control alongside him being jerked around by the wants of his children and Isaac and Noah, Nathan..
I don't think he ever has his moment of cutting his strings. he dies as barely syllable spoken in the great sonnet of everything, and even though his impact will be felt for generations in the lives of those he's helped, but even that means practically nothing.
he lives his last moments still strung up and dancing to entertain
