They say you don’t find the dog; the dog finds you. In our case, that couldn’t be more true. This is the story of how a Yorkshire Terrier named Bella didn’t just find a home—she found her calling as a certified heart-healer and the furry center of our universe.

My husband and I had been considering a therapy dog for years. We volunteer at a local senior center and have seen firsthand the joy a gentle animal can bring. When we started looking for the right candidate, we knew we wanted to adopt, not shop. Our search led us to Yorkie Companion Rescue, and it was there, nestled among the other adorable faces, that we found Bella. Afternoon Lap Time: Her dedicated cuddle hour, where she dozes contently while I read.

Evening Welcome: The happy, wiggling dance she performs when my husband walks through the door.
