Hi, I'm trying to make an exposure analysis by modeling blowing dust. Do you have any idea on how to do that? I'm having the worst time trying to create a Gaussian plume but I don't have emission rates to use it technically. Any help will be awesome.
Hi! Iām really sorry about the time that it took me to get to this answer, but this is completely new to me ā in all aspects.
For those not in the subject: the exposure analysis is basically the analysis that environmentalists will do to assess which is the impact that changes into a specific environment will have. The modeling of dusts and winds is important, since it explains basically how gas emissions will impact the atmospheric composition, and different gasses behave differently. A plume is a column of gas moving into another, but this also can be applied to liquids (everything under the āfluidā behavior). And a Gaussian plume is one that behaves under the Gaussian probability distribution: it assumes it has an uniform chance of getting distributed in certain areas while others not that much.
For what Iāve been reading, most of the time the emission rates (or āhow much of the gas is put into the environmentā) would be the primary input to your algorithms, since the usual effects that youāre trying to measure in the exposure analysis are the result of that. If you donāt have them, the probable best approach is to iterate through different simulations with minimum up to the maximum and compare how different numbers affect the results. Youāll likely find that the impact is not so much with low emission rates, but thereāll be a specific number that makes the tipping point into whatās not acceptable anymore.
Into how these are simulated, I honestly have no idea, but this is what I could find with searching simulation software that seem to support the Gaussian plume distribution model.
