Ellie had given her word that she would teach Naomi how to use a knife. It’s not just about handling one, but being able to throw one and keep someone or something at a distance in an emergency.
So she told the girl to meet her at a certain time at the far end of the Jackson outlet, close by to the Disney store. She smiled a little when she thought of Jae, thinking he might like to look around there--after all, ain’t Disney for all ages?
Dropping her holdall on the floor, Ellie got to work.
She’d taken some mannequins from a nearby store and positioned them at different distances. Then she covered the main torso’s, the thighs and the necks of the mannequins with thick sponge, the type which would hold the weight of a knife when thrown hard enough.
Now she just had to wait for her to arrive.
