Charity Single Benefits One Fund Boston
Good people of the internet: This week, as you undoubtedly know, marks the anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing.
After the attack, like many, I was distraught. I grew up near Boston and had family and friends either on the course or lining it. Thankfully, they were all safe. But as the shock continued to unfurl in all its grotesquerie, stories of friends' coworkers in the hospital and their shuttered businesses emerged.
Because of all of this, and because I've also run my share of marathons, half marathons and five k's, I felt pieces of myself shatter. And although I write for a living, I couldn't find a way to articulate my anger and sadness, or strike a balance between mourning the loss of innocence and life, or celebrate the better nature among us.
About a week later, I wrote a song to attempt to give voice to what I was feeling in that moment. "I Will Get There" is that song.
I'm releasing it today as a charity single to benefit The One Fund, the organization established to help the people most affected by the bombing.
