"See? It happened again. Just like last time, you won't be able to escape your past, you'll never be."
It was instantaneous. Every limb on his body had began to tense up only to freeze entirely mere seconds later. The adrenaline that filled him to the brim was utterly unbearable in addition to his newfound panic and racing heart. Before he was able to even make sense of things, the boy’s world had quickly begun to spiral out of control.
Before he had even a moment to register anything else, all he heard were the words the informant had spoken. His voice rang through his eardrums and poured into his conscience. The whole thing was relentless and it echoed repeatedly to which the teenager forcefully shoves his hand to his ears as he tries not to cry out in anguish. No. He was already aware of the fact that he was for all intents and purposes, a coward. While it was true that he was the leader of the Yellow Scarves, their honorable Shogun, no less, the solid fact still stood that try as he may, he was still a child.
More echos are clearly audible and they continue to ring through his hearing mercilessly. He wanted Saki. He longed for his friends to come to his aid. Soon enough, he begins to reminisce everything he’s been through up until this point. A loud clap of thunder would make its presence known now. What’s more, a swift downpour of rain to make matters that much worse. Tears are visible on the boy’s face as a shadow is cast off to the side of it, hiding his amber optics from view. A lone sniffle is heard when he shrugs his shoulders and begins to pick himself up from off the ground.
It didn’t matter in the slightest how hard he tried to keep his dear friends safe or how much he hoped he would one day earn Saki’s forgiveness. He didn’t deserve a girl like her anyway and Kida knew that well. Nor did he deserve the friendship of Anri or Mikado. It was all an act. A tremendous lie to say the very least. Everything was. Right down to his typically upbeat personality. He never once stopped to consider the consequences for his actions. He was a fool just like the raven had said. Suddenly, everything was a blur and the gang leader began to stagger as eventually, he falls down to his knees. He was a gang leader no more, he was simply a child.
Though there are times his demeanor seems to be all adult and he recalls the devil he had once made a deadly deal with tell him the same.
At once, he starts off into a sprint. It is of instinct. He had been rather notorious from running from his problems by now but this was a different story. Sinister chuckles could be heard as the fear-filled boy tries to escape. He runs as fast as he can until his limbs can carry him no longer. A malicious laugh is heard as Kida stops at a dead end at a nearby high gate. One of which he is much too worn to even think about climbing.
He knows straighaway, whom the laugh belongs to. Cue a long death glare followed by the venomous sound of him stating his name in the ominous area. A wide grin soon makes itself visible as the coward’s world shatters back into reality. He turns his attention back to his alarm clock only to realize he’s roughly ten minutes late. Nothing new. He thinks nothing of this, naturally. And instead lies back down upon his bedding and sighs out breathlessly;
❝I know. You’ve told me before. But one day I’ll prove you wrong.
