@theoddsquad asked:Â He's been quiet. They've been on the train for a while and he's not entirely sure where it is they're going. Hes mostly focused on the clack-clack and the sound of the locomotive. The occasional horn.. the cool air against his skin, and the pressure of Mallory's body leaning against him. Ivory seems deep in thought. "How long had you been looking for me?" he asks "And why didn't you leave when you'd seen what I had become. Why are you still here? You're a fugitive now because of me."
The train ride was quieter than she was used to - not curled in the back alone next to the luggage. Now, she was curled next to someone, and that seemed to make all the difference. Ivory was with her. He was the cool-warm of another human pressed against her, and the feeling of him breathing had lulled Mallory into a calmer state than their frantic pack-and-run.
And he spoke. Mallory sat up slightly, blinking. Questions. Answer them in order. âSince you left.â That one was easy. âThe day you disappeared, I started looking.â
A small pause. The rest, was all one question. One very hard one.
Mallory curled back in, placing her hand on his arm, breathing slowly. âBecause...I love you.â One statement that seemed far too small for all it meant. âI was a fugitive before you. Overwatch is technically illegal, and before then Iâd been running from Talon, so I was as good as a fugitive anyways. I donât remember living any life that wasnât on the run.â
A small, soft smile. âAnd youâre not as different as I think they want you to believe you are. Yes you killed people - but you did that before. Before you were with Overwatch, even. What they did to you isnât who you are. It wasnât, and it still isnât, and thatâs why I didnât give up on you. Because I love you, Ivory.â
