The Observation Trail - Update #10
[ Hours Spent: 10 ]
Obligatory reminder that if you only want jcink coding, make sure to black list #theobservationtrail!
This is your last update from me on this - we’re heading into the last week and final submission and presentation is in a week! I’ll pop a link up to the Github when it’s done so everyone can go check it out if they want, once it’s all done and pushed to the master branch, but otherwise this blog will be shifting back to color/font/coding resources and, now that schoolwork is settling down again, maybe finally some more jcink skins! I’ve got one site to re-skin, one sale skin planned, one sort of floating in my head... I’m looking forward to getting them into actual code!
Enough about that though - back to the project at hand. As mentioned last time, we’re in the final push and it’s primarily modelling from here on out. It was really nice to get a break from the heavy programming I’ve been doing for the rest of the project, so in the past week I’ve thrown together a deer model (which was absolutely awful to texture, with all the fading and distinct joints and how the UV mapping worked out best) and a set of dock boards with posts for our wetlands. The dock boards in particular are neat; they will layer over the ground tiles in the wetlands, which will also need to be lowered so that the dock boards are at the same level as the rest of the ground for consistency. That’ll be the next goal in the next week, as I work on getting all the models and audio in for our last two environments. Luckily, beyond the wetlands tile height shift, all the code is copy/paste to expand the environment at this point!
