I’m in
It’s a party, fam
The house on the island
I always knew there was something in my old house. I could always sense its presence. As a kid it scared the shit out of me, I was terrified of my own room the most of all. Granted the creepy ass dolls my grandmother have me didn't really help but my point still stands. I always felt there was something there and eventually I just accepted that my house was haunted. Things like scratching at the walls by my head, footsteps in the attic right above me, occasional lights flickering and the like were simply normal for me, albeit unnerving. When I was 17 my friend and I were hanging out in my room just sort of laying on the floor, my door was closed because that's how I liked it. As we were talking about pretty much nothing the door opened on its own, we both looked at the door and Paul got up and closed it. We were slightly weirded out but whatever right? It was probably the wind we agreed. So we resumed our hanging out and a few minutes passed before the door opened again, this time Paul closed the door from the outside and opened it again to test if it could be the wind, he looked at me in sheer terror as he said, "That wasn't the wind." I had always known my door didn't open on its own, the frame was always slightly too tight which sometimes meant I nearly had to bust my door down to get in, and on more than one occasion I was locked in. For years I refused to close the door simply because it usually meant I couldn't get out. But I was a big strong teen now, I can open sticky doors totally! but hearing it from someone else really solidified that this was most definitely not normal. We both then decided that we should hangout downstairs, neither of us mentioned this incident to my parents when they came home. We both are very aware of what happened that day. We have both discussed, at length that my house was very very haunted. This happened after the door incident if memory serves. It was near the end of junior year and I was getting ready for a final in something, we were moving soon and I had many things on my mind but right now I just needed to get my towel back to the bathroom. I entered the bathroom towel in hand and froze. Right in front of me, floating a few feet of the ground was a shape, a very blobby shape. It was as if someone took the blur tool to the air immediately in front of me. I dropped the towel and ran for my life, I heard a loud whoosh, like from a strong gust of wind and I saw it pursuing me. I ran into my parents room and it didn't follow me. I always felt a safe aura from that room. I knew this was something I needed to tell my mom about but she was under so much stress that I decided it could wait till later. So I went about the rest of the day as if nothing happened. When I told my friends what happened they all looked very scared for me, Paul thought that it must've been what opened the door when we were hanging out. After I got home my mom was sitting in the kitchen and I told her about what happened that morning. She chuckled in response and said, "Oh yeah I've been seeing them too, don't worry they have no ill intentions." I felt relived and a little pissed that my mom didn't tell me what she'd been seeing. Especially as she went on to talk about how about a week prior she'd gone into my room and a black shadow moved across her shoulder, my mom ever the calm one simply said, "Oh which one are you?" In response. It turns out my mother had been talking to and asking for advice from the spirits for months, she had received a job offer on the other side of the country and asked for a sign, that same day the name sign in our front yard fell down. She went on to talk about how the women on her side of the family had a sort of ability. Suddenly it felt like everything made sense, that's why I've felt all these things? But then I remembered. I'm not "technically" related to this mom or her family. My biological mother is a skeptic and my other mom and I have never told her about the discussion we had that day. The activity died down a bit until the day before we were going to move. I was laying in my bed, worried about how I was going to stay on contact with my friends, my chem final, which was also the next day and going on a plane with three fucking cats. My door was closed, as usual. I tossed and turned a bit when my door opened on its own with force. I felt my heart stop as I looked at the door, no cats so it wasn't them. I tried my best to dismiss it and flopped over and eventually fell asleep. The rest of the day was normal, took the chem final, hugged my friends goodbye got on a longass plane ride and got to our apartment at about 2 am. I was wearing a tank top and pajama pants and was getting ready for bed when my mom said, "What's that on your back?" I had no idea what she meant and then she said, "Those scratches." I tried to rationalize, I said I probably did that on the plane or something. But curiosity got the better of me and I went to the bathroom to check it out. There were five long horizontal scratches across my back, they were red and scabbed up. I took a picture of them and texted the picture to Paul and simply said, "Whatever was in that house did not want me to leave" My mom may have been talking to her dead family in that house but I am certain there were dark things in that house. I have not felt any energy in this apartment we live in now, it's very new and we are the first people to live here. I have seen some dark shapes out of the corner of my eye and sometimes my cats are scared of me/something behind me for no reason but hey cats are weird right?
