I always love reading your posts about Latinx culture! Not only is it just interesting and educational to learn about, but also useful considering I'm a black girl playing a Latina and I'll be honest, my portrayal of Elena could seriously use some depth and insight into her culture and how it relates to her, you know the words better than me probably. Anyways, love ya Benzy! Don't ever stop sharing your Latinx pride! I hope your father beats that corona and your family stays healthy! 💚
okay last post before i head off———-
i’m glad!!! it’s taken me years of unlearning the way society around me forced me to NOT love my latin background, but DAMN i’m so in love with my family’s culture, and while I am learning more and more about my culture later in life, i will do whatever i want with ben and let him pretty much be the more “i love my latin background” boy that i wish i was more of when i was his age!
it makes me super happy whenever anyone tells me they also like when i rant about latin culture based on my own experiences as a latinx lad growing up and on my parents’ experiences growing up and living as adults themselves!
But honestly, it’s just doing a lot of research, knowing when to listen to latin peeps if they gotta correct you ever, and that latin america is SO BIG and we all have our own rich culture so we aren’t interchangeable! We share a lot of things, but we all have our own culture that makes us different from each other as well! i know for a fact the way my family and i speak is different from my cousin’s husband (the majority of my family is colombian save for my dad who is ecuadorian and my cousin’s husband is peruvian!)
and thank you! hopefully we should be getting more updates tomorrow about him, but we’re all keeping on the positive side and are faithful that dad will make it out of this!
