6. things you said under the stars and in the grass
“Yeah, it’s fucking December and we’re laying outside in the middle of the night.”
That earned him a punch to the side and a snap of, “Language.” But Sebastian only smiled crookedly before he pulled Jim’s small frame up against him. Jim curled up against his heat, nestling his head against his shoulder. Sebastian dared not to move even a muscle, as such moments of closeness and tenderness with Jim were rare. Though, they were slowly becoming more common, as his little bird slowly started to open up to him, trust him enough to show him his wings.Â
“Why are we even out here?” Sebastian asked, though, now mildly less annoyed.Â
“You’ll see,” is all Jim offered up as an answer. The blond hummed quietly and began to gently rub his hand along Jim’s side. He relaxed and allowed Sebastian to continue as his dark eyes, though, somehow brighter in the moonlight than they ever are in the sunlight, flicked over the gleaming white fish that glimmered in the dark ocean of night above them. Sebastian could imagine the endless paintings that Jim could see in the stars, blossoming in front of his eyes, their stories still as vivid and as resplendent as they were the day they were told. Sebastian himself was getting better at spotting the paintings in the sky, but his paintings were more akin to a five-year-old’s scribbles, whereas Jim was allowed to see the Monet and Van Gogh of the sky. That was alright with him. He preferred to hear Jim talk about the portraits, rather than see them himself.Â
Jim suddenly pointed up at a group of stars. “There.”Â
Sebastian narrowed his eyes, but all he could see was little dots. He didn’t say that, as last time he did, Jim punched him and didn’t talk to him for a week.
“I don’t see it,” he said.Â
Jim threw him a look and sat up. “There. That line.”Â
His finger traced out the constellation, composed of five stars in a curved line. Sebastian could see it, but he had no idea what it was supposed to be. Jim gave him an exasperated look before he finally said, “Aries. The Ram.”Â
Sebastian blinked in surprise. His astrological sign.Â
“I know astrological signs are nonsense but-”Â
Jim was cut off by Sebastian kissing him, pulling him close as he gives him a kiss that is both surprisingly tender and passionate. Jim kisses him back with as much enthusiasm, and they only break it in order to catch a breath. Sebastian ran his thumb along Jim’s jawline, and found him to be the most beautiful thing he has ever seen.Â
“I love you, little bird,” he said.Â
Jim actually smiled, a true, genuine smile that lit up his eyes and made Sebastian’s heart skip a beat.Â
“Mo chuisle,” Jim said.Â
And that was more than Sebastian could have hoped for. He pulled Jim close and lied back with him, their declarations of love being mapped under the pulsing glimmer of the stars.Â
