I don't have words for what this list says to me. I think it is overly ignorant of what actually matters to the students of today. Half of the things that were stated, I don't even recollect being important milestones for myself. Granted, I was the class of 2014, so I pulled the Beloit Mindset List for the Class of 2014 (http://www.beloit.edu/mindset/previouslists/2014/).
After reviewing this list, there is very few things that I even thought about as significant or important in how I looked at the college environment. Though some of the points they make deal with gender equality/disability equality & yes, I will say that those things make an impact on my view of the world because I never lived in a world where those were strong issues. However, a prime example of a silly - and maybe the intent is to be somewhat silly - impact that they say impacted us was "Beethoven was always the great name of a dog."
I think it is ignorant to believe that our mindset is that low or that is what we initially think of when we hear the name Beethoven. I have strong reservations about these list. I'm not 100% on board with the creation of these lists other than for use of entertainment.
