Do you agree with fandom interpretation of your character?
I think there are so many fandom interpretations of Remus that itâs hard to give a straight answer, but mostly Iâd say no. Heâs certainly not the mother hen of the Marauders, the stick-in-the-mud of the group; most people donât see him as having much of a sense of humor at all which I think we know isnât true by virtue of the fact that he was friends with James and Sirius.
Also I have never understood the fandom thing that Remus is obsessed with chocolate?? He used chocolate for the dementor attacks because itâs a natural anti-depressant, not because itâs his favorite food in the entire world, and itâs always been weird to me that it was a tiny little thing the fandom latched onto and blew up into some all-consuming Remus-only-eats-chocolate obsession. Â
What do you wish the author would reveal/had revealed about your muse?
I mean, we all know Remus and Sirius were in love and were just too afraid to come out to J K Rowling, yeah?
Has your own interpretation changed from when you first began playing the character?
I mean, I started playing Remus when I was, like, 13 or 14? So Iâd say it would be weird if my interpretation of Remus hadnât changed in the last 9 years. But the main thing is that my Remus is a lot less sad now. He used to be pretty mopey all the time and now I like to think heâs a lot less miserable.
Any part of their canon portrayal you dislike?
Remusâ marriage to Tonks has always annoyed me, ever since I first picked up the 6th book. Remusâ sexuality is super important to me, and while Iâve always headcanoned Remus as bisexual, his relationship with Tonks just felt so rushed and like, okay shit I have to make another war orphan, who can have a baby real quick??
And I guess if Pottermore counts as canon, Remusâ relationship with his father in the bio she released on Pottermore was pretty fucked up. Iâm hard-pressed to believe that if Remusâ father is still alive and Remus doesnât choose to go back to him for support/help when heâs unemployed, that they had any semblance of a good relationship when Remus was young.
