Inadequada.
You don’t have to prove you’re good
Remiding myself all the time that I have nothing to prove to the others, only to myself.
You don’t have to be good because of other people, wheter it is to:
- shove in their face how good you are
- be better than their are
- gain their admiration/love
NONE OF THOSE REASONS ARE IMPORTANT.
At the end of the day, all the joy and pain and success and failures are yours, belong only to yourself.
And this is your blessing and your burden, and what makes you move forward or hold back, and all those decisions are yours to make.
Go on and be the person you want to be, but remember:
1. This person is made of every little decision, since sleeping 5 minutes more in the morning, or moving to another city, or buying those shoes;
2. Other people can inspire or challenge you, but never let them make you.
🍲 You are what you eat (Você é o que você come)
Finalmente entendi porque falam tanto do Studio Ghibli.
👰🏼 Marry my husband

The struggle that is showing up
This year one of my biggest challenges was wanting to go places. Going places everyday can be difficult when you are feeling down and unmotivated. I’m talking about work and school (I work all day and go to school at night). This year I struggled to be able to keep going. Work I could fix pretty well, pretty fast, since I love my job and don’t want to lose it. However, school is another thing. I study in a public university and we didn’t have class for 3 months because the teachers and other servants had a strike for better salaries. So, our school year that should go from February to December, started in March, stopped from April to June and is finishing next March. And I have to go to class until December 23rd. How delightful. So, this year has been very difficult for me, because I really don’t feel like going everyday to class at 7:30 and getting home by 11 after a long day of work. But I have to, since school is the very reason why I moved out and found this beautiful city, made great friends, got an awesome job. And I just have one more year, so I’m doing it. With all this hardship, graduating will certainly feel even more as a victory. Can’t wait.
We say that times have changed, and some people think that God should change too. But we just got here. God has always been. We are figuring this world out. God holds it in the palm of his hand.
Thinking on the fact that God is the same yesterday, today and forever.
My dream job is a 9 to 5
We all wish for a dream job. This concept nowadays is designed as something that will make us feel free, happy, away from obligations and the dreaded 9 to 5. As a person who dreams of a dream job, I can tell how real is the struggle is. In the last 10 years, I had 8 jobs, counting internships. If I counted voluntary work and my year as an au pair, the number goes over 10 easily. IN 10 YEARS. Based on that number of experiences I believe that what is going to be said here should be considered. What will be questioned here is why do us, millennials, dread so much the 9 to 5? If anything, the last 10 years taught me that maybe, just maybe, having a regular job may not be that bad, but we keep saying to each other things as “choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life” and people propagate articles and posts about “how I ditched my 9 to 5 job” and how there are so many possibilities in the world and how you should leave everything behind to travel. Guess what? That is freaking confusing!
After wandering for years in the search for the perfect dream job, I am coming back to the one thing I thought was not for me, but it happens to be the exact thing that I want to do for the rest of my life. And it is a 9 to 5 job. With benefits, with routine, meetings, planning, bosses and all of those things we are being taught to hate in a job. But, as a millennial, I dare to proclaim that MY DREAM JOB IS A 9 TO 5 JOB. In a school, with more than 3 bosses over my head, with obligations and a time card. Yup, I have to prove how much time I spent at my job. Scandalous. However, working with the best people I ever worked with, in an environment that stimulates personal and professional growth and with a boss that sometimes believes me more than I believe myself, how can I say no?
We need to stop lying to each other saying that freedom means traveling the world and working as a freelancer. Freedom is being able to choose whatever you want, and it may come with conditions such as financial stability, credibility, consistency, having money saved, respecting your history, your context, who you are, the people who matter to you. Not everyone has conditions to ditch everything and go see the world and figure out what they want from life. That is not always a path to freedom, it might be escaping from reality and we have to be careful with that, it is what is making us all so confused about what we want. That doesn’t mean that I don’t want to travel the world and have adventures, but, after almost 3 years of living without my own money, questioning every decision, every opportunity in search of perfect freedom, I realized that the life I have now is the life I want, that I am happy and I don’t wanna go back to what my life was 4 years ago. My year abroad changed many things in my mind, but my journey to my dream job led me to a much deeper understanding that life is not perfect. No matter how much you love your job, there will be days when it will be hard, and it will feel like work (in the worst meaning of the word); some days you will feel sad, sick, tired, and that’s ok. Growth happens when crisis come, so let it come and change you, and make you understand that the beauty of life is the ups and downs, extreme joys and seemingly unending pain, having too many bad things and too many good things happening at the same time. Go ahead and face it. That’s what freedom feels like, moving forward and making your way in the world. Even when you work 9 to 5.
