The Lacoste (Kommando) LDP was a Rhodesian designed submachine gun, influenced by the Uzi and produced during the 1960s. Subjected to international embargoes that limited their ability to import arms, the LDP (Land Defence Pistol) was an attempt to provide arms through domestic production. Following the end of White rule in Rhodesia, Lacoste moved to South Africa and renamed themselves Kommando, where they continued to build an improved design known as the Sanna-77.
