@themckaytriarchy gets David making some poor decisions.
Huh, this is actually kinda fun.
Sure, the loud music and pressing bodies were awful at first. So much so David almost left, but then Megan handed him a drink. He remembers grumbling something about his healing factor stopping him from getting drunk, which led to her asking a very simple question.
“Can't ya turn that off?”
“Aye … Aye, I fuckin’ can!”
And with a resounding, ‘Fuck it!’ there goes David's inability to get drunk. Along with it went his hesitance. Yes, Megan convinced him to come to the near constant party raging across Krakoa because she was right. He needed a break. He's been working his ass off ever since he made The Altar. No sleep. No moment to rest, to relax. Hardly even any time to think.
Not that he wants to think. Think about how much he misses Ruth. Think about his fucked up relationship with his dad. Think about the pounding on the glass cases deep within his cranium. He'd much rather not do any thinking. Or listening to the voices in his head, for that matter.
Megan's solution to the overworking, the shitty thoughts, the too many voices? Loud music, alcohol, a crowd of celebrating people, and drugs. Logic dictates all of that mixed with David Haller is a recipe for disaster, and yes, he may have had some concerns in the beginning, but now? This is going pretty great.
David doesn't know how much he's drunk. He's not even sure what Megan has just handed him. Some kind of brightly coloured mushroom? She's saying something about ecstasy but with some kind of hallucinogenic thrown in. It's hard to hear her over the music. He just shrugs and shoves it in his mouth to her encouraging whoop.
“Hmm … Tastes sweet,” he shouts as she takes his hand in both of hers.
“Yeah! Are ya-,” she starts to ask, words cutting off. Her black eyes widen, a shudder passing through her. “Oh … Oh, is this how it feels for ya?”
“I … I guess so,” David says, blinking before a wide grin spreads across his features.
He feels really fucking good. Like a warmth and buzz in his brain, in his body. Like he's floating but his feet are still touching the ground. David feels lighter than he ever has, freer. And when did the world get more vibrant, more real? He looks down at where their hands are touching and he feels the tingle of his touch telepathy but it's more than that. It's like what he's feeling is passing from him to Megan and back but it's doubled somehow. Their grips tighten. Their eyes meet.
“I got some friends ya should meet,” Megan says, pulling him along through the crowd of dancing bodies.
David simply grins wider, unaware of how an iridescent mist is coming off him. Unaware of how a couple of people gravitate towards him. Unaware of the way some shudder when he brushes against them.
