I've never considered myself a violent person.
I always avoided physical confrontation and the few times I found myself in the middle of a brawl the only thing I ever did was getting beaten, mostly because I was afraid of how my (very little) strength could harm others.
Yep, such an innocuous guy... until I've discovered the exciting brutality of a gorgeous moshpit.
I'm not saying that thanks to moshpits I've become a violent person (the 9-to-5 grind made me), but when I find myself coming home after a lovely savage gig with bruises all over my body I'm happy enough to believe that the person that made them has on his body similar injuries inflicted by me and all the other people standing in there.
It's true ache-sharing, physical peer to peer.
I'm not anymore in my glorious days where consensually punching each other under the influence of blasting music was on a weekly basis (it all ended due to a too extreme Converge show where mountains of muscles played "Pinball: Space Cadet" with my head) but from time to time, when I listen to some ruthless music, as that hardcore-tinged stomping metal played by Them Frequencies from Sofia, I really miss not having to rub the pain away from some wounded limb or a bump.
But still, I find it relishing that with the help of bands like Them Frequencies I don't have to be a violent to enjoy a good ol' punch - both given or received, real or imagined.
