An obscure ticket stub from what has to be one of the most obscure football games ever played. In 1974, Rudolph Hazen, warden of Citrus State Prison, organized a football game between the prison’s inmates and guardsmen. The inmates, or Mean Machine as they called themselves, were led by former pro star quarterback, Paul “Wrecking” Crewe, who was serving an 18- month sentence at the time. Though trailing by 3 touchdowns late in the game, Mean Machine staged a furious and bloody comeback and won the game on a last second keeper by Crewe. The final score was 36-35.

Pro quarter-back, Paul Crewe and former college champion and coach, Nate Scarboro are doing time in the same prison. Asked to put together a team of inmates to take on the guards, Crewe enlists the help of Scarboro to coach the inmates to victory in a football game 'fixed' to turn out quite another way.
