Hi guys- here’s my first post in a series about my homebrew Astartes chapter, The Repentant Brotherhood. Have a gander, and feel free to comment any thoughts or opinions :)

Originally Fleet-based, these two chapters left the conclave separately, and spent centuries without contact until Caliban Repantas contacted The Sons of The Forest in a desperate attempt to safeguard the relics and dreadnoughts in their possession during the [REDACTED] War.

This war led to the death of the Caliban Repentas Chapter for all official purposes - in reality, while nearly all frontline fighters of the chapter had been slaughtered, the bulk of the Chapter’s command, specialty forces, and relic stores had been kept safe through the efforts of The Sons of The Forest.

This event is the cause of a complete re-structure of the two Chapters into The Repentant Brotherhood.

Upon arriving at the conclusion for the need of a restructuring as the combined fleet returned to a secure location, the two Grandmasters called a meeting with the Supreme Grand Master of the Dark Angels (at the time: Purson).

This meeting happened not only in the bowels of the Rock itself in utter secrecy, but also spanned several days.

At the conclusion of this meeting, The Repentant Brotherhood was christened by the Supreme Grand Master of the Dark Angels to continue with the edicts issued to the former chapters during the second founding, but to also rebuild the strength of the first legion in secret through the creation of a force which echoed the true ways of the Hexagrammeton - to create specialists within every theatre of war.

This order came with the endorsement from the Supreme Grand Master to supersede the thousand marine codex limit; The caveat of this is that if The Brotherhood were found to have an exorbitant amount of members by an outside authority, then the only support that would be given from the Dark Angels would be in name alone. With this send-off, the fleet of the newly-formed Repentant Brotherhood shot out into the dark void of space in search of a location from which to base their operations.

What brought a man of action to a sleepy Shrine? What kept him here? Near death and gratitude. Save his life, earn his loyalty. Now he wasn’t sure if they didn’t regret it from time to time but that was the situation. They needed a gate guard and he happened to be quite good at being a deterrent. He was big, his face was unfriendly, and if things went sideways he could handle himself nicely. But Leo would be lying if he said his time here hadn’t changed him a little bit. That violent, short temper of his, this place was...helping. It wasn’t as though they were teaching him meditation or anything. He wasn’t reciting mantras and offering up prayers...even though he was starting to believe more and more in this kami...stuff. There was something in this Shrine, that was for sure. How else did half the stuff here happen?
