# Duet For Two Violins and Strings - composed by Steve Reich, performed by The Knights, from the album 'The Ground beneath our Feet' 바이얼리니스트이자 작곡가 콜린 제이콥슨, 지휘자이자 첼리스트인 에릭 제이콥슨 형제가 설립한 오케스트라 '나이츠The Knights'. 브루클린에서 주로 활동한다고 한다. 미국 현대음악가인 스티브 라이히, 바흐, 스트라빈스키가 쓴 곡뿐만 아니라 콜린 제이콥슨의 곡, 또 다른 여러 작곡가들이 함께 만든, 앨범 이름과 같은 곡 'The Ground beneath our Feet'까지 모두 12곡이 앨범에 들어 있다. 워싱턴 덤바튼 오크에서 라이브로 녹음되었다고 한다. 파격적이고 현대적인 연주와 선곡을 상징하듯 앨범 재킷에서는 스트라빈스키의 초상을 찢고 또 다른 우주를 지향했는데... 안타깝게도 이 앨범에 수록된 바흐의 '바이올린과 오보에를 위한 협주곡 c단조', 스트라빈스키의 '덤바튼 오크 협주곡' 등 기존 클래식 음악 연주는 아쉽다. 음색이 풍성하지 않아 소리가 깊지 못하고 속도는 중심 없이 너무 빠르고 가벼워서, 마치 장난감 오케스트라로 연주하는 바흐를 듣는 기분이었다. 확실히 본인들이 작곡한 현대음악이나, 같은 미국 현대음악가인 스티브 라이히의 '두 대의 바이올린과 관현악을 위한 2중주' 등에서 더 매력적이고 자유롭게 음악적 아이디어를 펼쳐 보인다. This orchestra, 'The Knights' established by the brothers, the violinist and composer Colin Jacobsen with the conductor and cellist Eric Jacobsen. 'The Knights' is said to be active mostly in Brooklyn. This album includes 12 tracks composed by Bach, Stravinsky, American contemporary musician Steve Leich, besides, compositions by Colin Jacobsen and many other composers such as 'The Ground Beneath Our Feet' same to the album's name. It was recorded live at Dumbarton Oak, Washington. As a symbol of the unusual modern performance and selection, the album jacket was expressed by tearing the portrait of Stravinsky and aimed for a new space... But unfortunately, the performance ability to play classical music is a bit clumsy, so to say, 'Bach : Concerto For 2 Harpsichords In C Minor, BWV 1060' and 'Stravinsky : Concerto In E Flat Major 'Dumbarton Oaks' on this album. The tone was not abundant and the sound was not deep, the speed of play was so fast and light without the center of gravity. So I felt like listening to Bach playing with a toy orchestra.
