→ Hylas was the son of King Theiodamas and the nymph Menodice. After Heracles killed Theiodamas in battle, he took Hylas as an arms bearer and trained him to become a warrior, the two falling in love. When Hylas was kidnapped by nymphs, Heracles searched for the boy, but he was never found because he had fallen in love with the nymphs and remained with them.
