Not really because the container of water is still there so the spell can be cast on it and since its part of the horse it would also affect the horse. Look there is just no denying that horses or at least part of them are open containers while the horse itself is a donut

But the sweat on the horse is water and since the sweat clings to the horse it technically contains the water therefor making the horse an open container of water
