The ghost bus tours ethnography
Digital method
At first, I saw a mysterious black bus when I was traveling in Edinburgh. I was curious. Then I wanted to take the sightseeing bus and watched the ghost bus when I was traveling in York. I didn’t sit down on the day, so I opened the digital network. The webpage is very special. There are dark castles, dark knights, bloody meals, weird lights, with red, black and white combinations that make the entire page a Halloween feature. This is the ghost bus for Halloween. The overwhelming visual and sensory impact is catering to the psychology of people who have thought about Halloween. In the upper right corner, there is an obvious logo ‘book now’, which is displayed in the hat of skulls. When booking tickets, the price of children is half that of adults, as well as student fares and family packages. This is undoubtedly not only for young people, but also children, families, students, they are all the target customers of bus.
Sensory ethnography
Far from seeing the ghost bus, as seen above, the all black car has only the big font of 'theghostbus', the captain wearing a pirate costume greets us, the strange lights on the car are very dark. Only some people were seen faintly. When the car started, the car was very quiet and began to sound strange noises. This scene is consistent with the Halloween ghost scene. In addition to our five Chinese people in the bus, the rest are all Europeans. The captain appears on the only black and white screen. Every time a site is reached, a ghost story about death and ghosts is told. The captain and another ghostist Performing interactions in the car, the air is filled with horror. Some people are scared to scream, some are amused, some are curious, some are afraid, and of course there are people playing mobile phones. These ghost stories are all based on the real stories that happened in London a long time ago. I have seen these stories before, so I have reacted like Europeans with local culture, but my friends don’t know the story, there was no response, and the entire itinerary seemed to have nothing to do with this ghost bus. The ghost bus uses five sensory: visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile, and sensation. I also try to use the sensory ethnography as a researcher. The behavior of the person is related to its cultural background, experience and sense. The journey of the ghost bus confirms everything.
