25. new year’s eve kiss

“Happy New Year!” Buffy trills, and throws her arms around Willow with reckless abandon. She blinks, adorably serious and visibly tipsy, then presses a sticky kiss to Willow’s cheek. “Sorry,” she giggles, wiping at the smudge of chocolate she’s left there. “Oh my gosh, oh, sorry–”

“What was that?” Willow asks, a nervous laugh in her voice.

“New Year’s kiss!” Buffy explains, smiling at Willow like they’re not cuddled all close. Or maybe like they always have been. “C’mon, Will, you know the tradition! Ring in the new year with someone you love, right?”

“Yeah, but–” Willow fumbles, blushing. “You usually kiss someone you want to, you know, kiss.” Gosh, could she be any more dorky-high-school-sophomore? This close to Buffy, all her old crushy feelings are coming back with a vengeance.

Buffy blinks at Willow, frowning. “Did you miss a memo?” she says. “Or do you just want this to be a friend kiss?”

Willow stares. Then she says, “You might have to be a little less, uh, vague? You know me, I’m the kinda girl who usually needs things spelled out, especially if you’re saying what I think you’re saying which I’d really like you to be saying but I don’t want to pressure you into saying it especially not if–”

Buffy rolls her eyes, smiling, and then she kisses Willow. “That clear enough for you?” she says when she pulls back.

yeah, plus I think blogs like that encourage good discourse. idk about other people but I'm always nervous to reply with sort of controversial thoughts or rhings I'm not sure about when I know the person has a lot of followers, because I don't want things to snowball, if that makes sense

That makes perfect sense, and is exactly how I feel, too. 

It’s important and healthy to have spaces where we can articulate (often flawed, not completely formed) ideas and be safe to get feedback, pull them apart, and put them back together stronger.
