There’s a cringe at the voice, discomfort from having to listen to it pour out of her friend’s body. “I…” She balls her fists, whipping her head to face the mask. “I wasn’t oblivious! I knew she was suffering! Anybody who has the displeasure of knowing you would!” Her mouth clamps shut, brows slanting in irritation. It was true. She had been fully aware that Mia was suffering because of this thing. But she’d never forced Mia to admit it. Usually beating around the bush. She just wanted Mia to find happiness, to not have to think about the darkness inhabiting her body. She had figured if she offered unconditional love friendship it would be okay. She’d wait until Mia was ready to open up to her. Ha, like that did Mia any good. All she could do now was watch as Mia suffered under Yingzi’s influence. Maybe… maybe she wasn’t that good of a friend after all. It was her duty to fight and defeat evil and she had failed. She had failed Mia. Her face falls.
“Sorry, what was that?” It raises a hand to an ear, a hand that is no longer the warm brown it used to be. “Mia can’t hear you right now. She is a little busy drowning in despair.”
It stalks up to Kimiko. Getting close, baiting her to attack, to burn her friend. A few twisted giggles escape.
“So, you knew and did nothing? That makes this so much worse. What are you going to do now? Now that I am here. Now that Mia is lost. Will you kill her? Mia believes you can.”
