He was the only thing between her and her target, and having herself come up against someone who was once so familiar was cruel. They had worked well together. While she rarely worked with partners, preferring to take jobs alone, she was not so cocky that she thought she could do everything unaided. Their styles had somehow complimented one another and she had liked that. But his strength and skill at the game was why she was surprised when he seemed resigned to taking a bullet. Despite her skill and years of experience, he was still physically taller and stronger than her; he could easily take her down, yet there he was.
