I don’t think I’ve been as happy and sad at the same time as I was watching this episode.
I lost my lovely darling puppy when she was 11 years old, she died 4 days before Christmas, 5 years ago, and it hit me hard when I found out she had cancer a week before she had to go.
I think this was probably the best way the MLP staff could explain to children about losing their loved ones in a way of hibernation without totally explaining about death.
Where we would cry tears of anguish and pain knowing our loved ones are going to either pass on or never come back, we would be still be rather pleased and relieved that they’d return in a few months...whereas Rainbow Dash was written in as if she’d never EVER see Tank again for 5 months.
I teared up immensely because of those memories, and the real sadness that Dash felt. Where she would try anything she could to keep the heat up for Tank, we would do anything we could to keep those we love around as long as possible.
Branching off a bit, the references were amazing as well too, and it’s funny how it was about the coming of winter and I ended up with snow this morning after a clear, green day yesterday.
Going back on subject, no one wants to see our dear family go, either passing away or going somewhere for a long time, but it’s life...and yes, no one wants it to happen, not even I do.
It tears me up even now thinking about it, and it just shows how much we love those around us.
I love you all, and whatever happens, I’ll laugh and even cry beside you, because you’re all dear to me.
Also, the way they ended the episode was just...perfect, including the last view seconds. What else can you do other then say goodbye and continue on with the story?
I just love it when shows like this give a concluding overture to conclude a heavy episode. 10/10 you guys. TuTb
