Trick or treat!

So I was off working in the northern Mississippi area (specifically, the Ashland area), and, while I was outside, a rather peculiar insect decided to approach and landed on a tree beside me. It appeared to be some kind of hymenoptera, likely a wasp judging by the body/eye/wing shape, but, unlike most local wasps, it was BIG, like an Asian Giant Hornet, big enough to lay completely across my palm. It also had a thick coat of yellow/orange/red fur in a kind of 'sunset' pattern. Any ideas??

As someone who has done 3D modeling, I look at a lot of the stuff you do in Humans-B-Gone and can't help but go "Ohh that's so impressive", because it really is! It's not 100% perfect, and I know it can be hard to get out of the headspace of wanting it to be better or be perfect or not thinking it's good enough, and even feeling like giving up on it, but it's alright if it's not perfect, at the end of the day you have an end product that shows you put the work in, and I think it looks pretty damn good!

How common would you say it is to find a spider taking up temporary residence in the nest of tiny web-weaving caterpillars? I found one web surrounding the end of a branch that contained just that the other day! Seemed like some sort of jumping spider chilling out amongst a bunch of tiny brown caterpillars
