My darling companion in whom I have found no other equal in truly understanding the show that we call Riverdale, I would be delighted to answer your questions.

1. Who is your favourite character?

Like all who walk the hallowed paths of Riverdale, I fell quickly for our resident weirdo Jughead Jones, but I cannot truly declare my deepest affections for anyone but Cheryl Blossom.

Will we ever see a character like her again, dear scholar? I fear not. Never have I met someone that so truly embodies the phrase "high femme, camp antics". Every word out of her mouth is so ridiculous. Every action so insane. She deprogrammed herself out of a cult because they wouldn't let her be prom queen. She's head cheerleader. She's queen of the bees.

I could not also let this question pass without mentioning our true bias: Doctor Curdle Junior. A man with so many qualifications, I wonder how long he must have spent at medical school. Or how he managed to forge so many medical diplomas.

9. Which character has your favourite costuming? What's your favourite outfit they wore?

Cheryl Blossom once again steals this scholar's heart with her sheer number of red ensembles, though it may seem a cop out to say that my true favourite is the Riverdale Vixen Funeral Wear.

Do all River Vixens get their own funeral version of a cheerleading outfit when they join the team, or were they made specially for this particular funeral? The cloak. The gloves. The black pom pom. Truly iconic and, if this scholar may be bold to say, so, so, stupid.

It would be remiss not to also bring up Jughead Jones at this point, given how often this scholar has looked upon an episode of Riverdale and felt a gentle but deep yearning connection and a desire to steal the look. Perhaps it is the soft butch lesbian vibes. If this scholar were to purchase a Jughead hat, would society judge her harshly for it?

20. What is your favorite quote?

Alas, my fellow scholar, it is impossible for me to pick just one out of so many ridiculous, delectable morsels. Immediately I jump to, "speaking of bodies, have you recovered from finding Jason's?" but I also give high praise to "recently I was likened to the harlot of Babylon."

20. What’s your favorite part about the fanfiction writing process?

Of the actual writing part, either getting into a really good flow or having a day where I finally get an important scene written. Or finishing, because that’s very satisfying and in many ways a relief. After that point, definitely comments are my favourite part.

21. What’s your least favorite part about the fanfiction writing process? 

The grind. The whole...grinding away and away and away at it and feeling like I’m not actually making any significant progress at all, but knowing I’ve just got to keep chipping away at it. Writing the middle, basically.

31. Of the characters you write for, which is your favorite? Has that choice been swayed at all by your followers/readers’ reactions to certain ones?

This is a surprisingly hard question, and like the nerd I am, I went and checked who in my big OTPs I prefer to write for. Enjolras pips Grantaire by just two fics, but it turns out I write Alex’s POV a lot more than Michael’s, which I hadn’t even noticed. Idk if I have a favourite! I tend to pick whichever POV would better serve the story, and if I can’t decide, I cheat and go for multiple.

32. Copy and paste your top three favorite lines/jokes/sentences you’ve ever written. What fics do they come from? 

Also hard! But I have done my best!

From Leaves in the Void: Irritatingly, nothing knocked him out like the prospect of having to deal with intense feelings, but it wasn’t exactly a reliable strategy for combating insomnia. Huge mood, I too avoid my problems by sleeping.

From Shadow Work: The earth in his bones, in his skin. Arroyos flooding periodically like blood through veins, like the saliva in his mouth. The holes in the desert-spaceship expanded and shrank and expanded and blinked closed and opened again like flowers opening and closing as the planet turned towards and away from the sun. His sun, his home, his desert, his body. I don’t often get lyrical or poetical but when better to indulge than when your POV character is having a bit of a trippy experience?

From Meet Me in the Woods Tonight: “Must one provide skilled rhetoric to maintain a friendship?” Enjolras snapped. “I was not aware there was such a high standard. I will be sorry to inform the others, who believe that taking pleasure in each other’s company matters more than scholarly debate. Your worth is in your company, Grantaire, not your arguments. Which is lucky, because they are poor.”  My one foray into canon era! Writing historical fic brings me out in hives because the research required sends me running, but I circumvented that problem by adding fairies, and I really loved writing some flowery dialogue.

34. How much of yourself and your life experiences do you put into your writing? What do you think your readers’ image of you is? 

I have genuinely got no idea what my readers imagine me to be like. I don’t actually put much of myself and my life into my fic, I don’t think. Most of what I write about, I can’t write about from a place of experience, so it’s just good imagination and a shitload of research.

6. A song that’s on at least 3 of your playlists

i thought this was gonna be easy bc i feel like i just listen to the same songs over and over again but i actually had to do a lil digging to find this one? but ‘til i die by the beach boys is on like four of the playlists ive made in the last year

18.  A song that you like that the lyrics are just so beautiful they’re practically poetry

i feel like i could come up with a bunch of songs that fit this one but my brain went to between the bars by elliott smith first

23.  A song that when you listen to it you’re transported to a liminal space, time is pointless and you must sit and wallow in the void that remains

3. Who is the most romantic?

They both are? It’s very different kinds of romantic, and Martin is definitely more classically romantic in the sense of poems and breakfast in bed and being stupidly flustered whenever Tim asks him to dance. Tim’s is more of a kind that can be brushed off as not romantic even though it definitely is. Things like remembering exactly how Martin takes his tea, learning what will make him laugh every time and being able to deploy it when needed, bringing takeaway and refusing to let him do the washing up because of rules he just made up. He’s not above making a fool of himself to cheer him up, and he’s also incredibly willing to play into Martin’s high romance ideals at times. Not always, and definitely not always seriously, but the one time they slow dance in the kitchen it’s Tim who starts it. He doesn’t even say anything when Martin cries a little. They’re both pretty intense on the making each other happy front. 9. What is the most embarrassing thing they have done in front of each other?Already answered!29. Why do they fall a little bit more in love?Ahh! Kinda because of the above? Tim is brash and loud and fun in ways Martin can’t quite keep up with, but he’s also caring and super considerate and every time he slows down so Martin can keep up, or backs off and tones it down to make him more comfortable it makes him feel a certain kinda way you know? Tim falls a little bit more in love with Martin’s practicality and resourcefulness, and weirdly when he snaps and stands up for himself about things? There’s a lot it’s easy to ignore about Martin, or just stuff that he seems to hide and make unnoticed, but in the moments it comes out he just... feels things. Also any time Martin is sleepy and leans on him he feels like he’s earned some great honour.
