My first blog will be about men’s shoes and why it really does matter to buy better shoes rather than the cheapest or first option. Shoes are the only thing ( I personally think ) that you can’t get a cheap substitute. You really have to out way the pros and cons about the shoes you buy. Cheap shoes usually look ... well, cheap! A good pair of reasonably priced shoes I would say you would be looking to spend around £200-£400. That’s not to say that you can’t find a pair that is great for under that price range, but this is just the ones I have seen and also tried out.

Personal favourites of mines have to be Grenson , you can pick a pair up from www.grenson.com. I have 2 pairs of brogues from there, one sued pair named “Stanley” and also a pair of tanned leather ones named “Archie”. Both shoes have a cleated sole which is sort of a more casual look than your standard wooden sole, but look just as good with a suit as any. My shoes are about 3 or 4 years old now and still no sign of wear and tear (and I don't take the best care of shoes). A little polish on the leather ones now and again and a clean of the white cleated sole with a wet wipe or if you want to put a bit more effort in, a toothbrush and some soap ( just make to not use the toothbrush again ).They are very comfortable shoes that you could wear every day if chose to. I just believe you are getting more out of the money you spend, although it is a fair bit of money to be spending on shoes  in one go, you may end up spending more money over a long period of time. I have also had cheaper shoes that look ‘OK’ for an occasion but just don't seem to last and just aren’t as comfy. I would say if you are buying cheaper shoes,( because let's face it not everyone can afford to spend that on shoes) is change the laces. Cheaper shoes always seem to have really thin wiry laces , that even after you have tied them 5 or 6 times always come out! As for ones with no laces like Chelsea boots the leather and the soul always seem too chunky and again ‘Look cheap’ so just be aware of these things when trying to find the right ones for you. On a more positive note, cheap loafers seem to be pretty good from what I have seen. You can grab a nice pair of cheap loafers from ASOS for sometimes as little as £20 in the sale. These... speaking from experience seem to be just as good! I hope this helps anyone looking to buy shoes in the future. Just remember its shoes that suit your needs and your budget.
