hi! my camp's doing midsummer but as a musical and i'm not sure what part would fit me. i'm 15, 5', i have long black hair, and glasses. since it's a kids theater camp and i'm the oldest one there i know i'm going to get a main part. i kinda want to be puck because puck's just fantastic, but i don't know if they'd let a girl play puck.

One of the great things about that kind of situation is that you’re less likely to be limited by silly things like age/gender than you might be in the Real World. So: if you’re interested in Puck, go for Puck! I see girls playing Puck all the time, and I think it’s a great choice.
The written-as-female parts are Hermia, Helena, Titania, and Hippolyta (who is often doubled with Titania) and they’re all super fun. Whether you’d be cast as Hermia or Helena might be a height thing — Helena is taller than Hermia, and that’s sort of a plot point.
But, again: If you want to do Puck, go for it! I think you’d be awesome. In any case, one of the great things about Midsummer is that all the parts are super fun and there are no real “leads.”

I THINK SO BUT I’M NOT SURE! I want it to be a non-Elsa Ice queen, because at least that I could take seriously.
Okay, so I’ve been reading as many posts as one person can about this specific OUAT related issue, I have yet to track down anything official (When I do I swear y’all will be the first to know) but this is how I see it.
They’re cashing in on Frozen’s awesomeness, because it’s ABC-Disney and they can.
I really hope they decide to tell some sort of actual-makes logical fucking sense story, and it’s not like bad Frozen fanfiction… which could happen.
The thing is I kinda liked the idea that this Ice-witch-queen-precious-baby was so powerful even Rumple was like “oh, I’m not gunna fuck with that.”
The thing is the OUAT writer’s room going to play the game of here’s a villian-oh wait let’s hear her back story and change how we feel about her, but not really because she’ll back slide and then we can not like her again. Or are we going to have some semblance of polish and integrity in story telling like we used to back in Season 1?
I forget who said it, and as soon as I remember I’ll edit this post, but someone on here that I love said that the writer’s room must be like a bunch of people coming up with stuff and then compromising on a lot of stuff, then passing it on to ABC suits that want them to dumb it down or fluff it up for the sake of ratings and as such the really smart/ complicated bits are getting washed out. As such there is some stuff that seems like lazy writing, or poor plotting and some of it is/ could be, and some is plot stuff lost via democracy.
What all of this means is a lot of devoted Oncers are frustrated by lack of consistency, and the poor balance between over arching plot and drama of the week, and yet casual watchers are like “eh, this is pretty good.”
I’ll be passing on the information as I find it, and I hope we get the show we miss/ want, and the Snow lady plot line that most of us can tolerate.
I was Mary in Merrily! A good song to sing is "Not a Day Goes By" or "Now you Know." Or one of Gussie's songs. Or, you can audition with other Sondheim songs. Sondheim is the hardest composer to learn vocally, in my opinion, so if you know one of his songs, you should be good. Also, if you listen to the Original Cast recording, Mary isn't a strong singer. So it doesn't really matter if you can belt out a tune or not. All that matters is that you are a strong actress, UNDERSTAND THE PLOT AND TIME TRAVEL, and can differentiate between all the different years. Break a leg! Good luck!
