Folks are holding #MSNBC accountable. #TiffanyCross fought for Black voices, Black issues, and Black stories. It’s good to see leaders fighting for her. #TheCrossConnection #Repost @blackvoices with @use.repost ・・・ More than 40 Black leaders have sent a letter to MSNBC President Rashida Jones in protest of the cancellation of “The Cross Connection With Tiffany Cross” and have demanded a meeting to “discuss a path forward that is restorative to the reputation and dignity of” the cable news host. MSNBC’s abrupt decision to cancel the Saturday morning news program came after Tiffany Cross became the target of attacks by Fox News pundit Tucker Carlson and his network. The letter’s authors included leaders of civil rights groups and nonprofit organizations, including Melanie L. Campbell, president and CEO of the National Coalition on Black Civic Participation; Derrick Johnson, president and CEO of the NAACP; Alexis McGill Johnson, president of Planned Parenthood; and Rashad Robinson, president of Color of Change. It was also signed by sports journalist Jemele Hill, political commentator Angela Rye and journalist Roland Martin. They wrote that they were “deeply disappointed” that the network abruptly canceled Cross’s show days before the midterm elections — especially as many Republicans gear up to reject the results if they lose.
