i honestly don't understand why it costs so much money to be tested for ADHD. My university charges $300 for an evaluation. Luckily, I was diagnosed about 4 years ago and have proof of my condition but I can't imagine having to pay that much money for testing. Why is it so expensive?
Psychologists can charge over $100 an hour (when I got diagnosed my psychologist charged $110 per hour and that was the going rate in the province). So part of the cost of the assessment is the psychologist’s time. Another part has to do with the licensing for the tests that are used. Things like IQ tests cost money to be trained and then the person has to buy the test and the testing materials, plus the scoring pages can’t be reused. So part of the cost offsets the price of all of that stuff.
