Mathew Bourne's The Car Man
Last night, my mother and I went to see Mathew Bourne's The Car Man at Curve Theatre Leicester. I didn't have any expectations as I had never seen a contemporary ballet before, and really just booked tickets after scrolling through Curve's website. But what can I say? I was mesmerised! Throughout the whole show I was completely hooked; I fell in love with the gritty storyline, the exquisite dancing, the pure emotion but most of all the hot male dancers 😂. The Car Man is set during the early 1960's in a small Italian-American town called Harmoney (the irony) and presents a tale of lust, murder and betrayal. The show is a superbly balanced, eye-grabbing combination of first rate choreography, drama and sheer entertainment!! But what I was not expecting from the night was for a woman, who I had never met before, to offer me tickets to meet the cast!! I was in utter shock from her spontaneous act of generosity, and was so grateful for her kindness! So after I had taken it all in, I was directed to a private lounge where there were drinks and nibbles and THEN I MET THE CAST AAAH!! They were all so lovely and down to earth and I was able to have some great conversations about what its like to be training and working in the arts, as well as touring around the country with such a great show. It was a very ensightful experience which I am truely grateful for, so thank you to the kind stanger who gave me the tickets!! All I can say now is, if you get the opportunity to go see The Car Man, BOOK TICKETS!!!
