“Blind Drunk” poem by The Broken Art 2021 (original photo credit-Johan Swanepoel)
The Curtain
I'm a terror of sheer curtain
trying to frantically run away
from an open window.
I'm a gate that swings
far and away on rusty squeals
that opens the dirt path
to some thin ice skate.
I’m the drop of a hat
made of the last straw.
The one chosen to break
some poor camel’s back.
I am a sheer curtain
and the tidal wave it reveals.

"March On"
The louder we scream
the less we hear.
For in every lost dream
there's born a new fear.
Like a crying baby
that won't be pacified,
or a lonely lady
that can't be satisfied.
We keep running back
into the waves that bore us.
Back to the water
whose promises tore us
in two.
Why this fight again?
When the tears won't wash out.
Away we go again
Where the love can't watch out
For us.
Unseen, the circle is unbroken.
We bare our crosses again
with the words unspoken
old wounds made new again.
I'm hoping I live long enough
to see and feel your lovely sun.
To once more drink in your love
and raise our glasses as one.
But until that moment of clarity
we can only march on
to the beat of life's insanity.
We can only march on.
