POV: (Powerless!Homelander - AU) π»
A broken and defeated Homelander, now going by John, goes into hiding after the Butcher shows him mercy. He finds himself moving from place to place until he eventually stumbles onto your property.
You immediately recognize him, but despite everything, you begrudgingly take him in. You're as welcoming, kind, and hospitable as you can be given the situation.
You live a simple life in the quiet country, but John doesn't mind. He's grown to enjoy this place with you. He does his best to earn his keep and helps you with daily chores anyway he can. Sometimes he even helps you work on your old beat up truck when you let him.
Over time, the two of you start to get to know each other more. You open up about your troubled past to him and John (through time) starts to tell you about all the things he endured during his childhood as Vought's lab rat.
Eventually, John starts to grow feelings for you and he knows that he shouldn't allow it. But how could he not? You have been the only person who has truly shown him what genuine friendship and love feels like. He wants you, but believes he doesn't deserve you. So he tries to hide it and buries his feelings.
However, what John doesn't know is that you have also been developing your own (albeit complicated) feelings for the once all powerful "superhero" who now is nothing more than a broken man. You want him, but your own mind constantly reminds you of his misdoings as Homelander.
How long can you two really keep this up before someone cracks?
