So close to what Deva's basically working on, except she doesn't necessarily have a good understanding of the personality of people so it'd be even worse.

I can’t speak for Kako, but Deva doesn’t seem to be the kind to care much for acting, and more of ‘using the forms of others to lower their guard, and once they do, immediately attack them’. Also, she’s FAR from helpless when found out, VERY far from it and super dangerous.

I wonder how, in such a hypothetical incident, Eri would get around ones that can see through deception? (Emma, Satori, etc) Take them out first?

Two possibilities on top of my head:

Gensokyo trusts Emma, Satori, Eiki, etc to root Eri out. Mind readers like them or people who can read energy like Meiling and Lust are Eri’s hard counter. So...

Eri impersonates one of them to take away suspicion from himself. Worst case scenario, Eri can also possess the bodies of one of them, so he not only gets their mind reading/etc, he also takes them out of the picture since he’s inhabiting them. Fortunately, because his possession isn’t mastered, he has to hide his own body somewhere because it would be completely vulnerable otherwise.

He avoids them entirely. Unless they are actively searching for him, they most likely won’t be able to find him in a crowd, and that’s when he tries to incapacitate them.

Iris bent down and examined the body, recently killed, there was blood still pooling around it. She could call the police, she could go to her professors. But the young woman was nothing if not curious, so maybe she could try find the killer herself?

“I’m glad you all made it on time, sorry for the short notice.” Anthony met up with his would be helpers, after some time of set up, it was now time to act and catch whoever was smuggling oddities in and out of Tatari space in the act.

There was suspicions already but, they had to be confirmed, and if correct that perhaps it was all illegal goods, they’d have to be approached and apprehended. “I have some things for you all, some clothes for the job, a few weapons, we’re acting sort of in the authority of the trade regulation.”

The moment your fingers finished playing those notes on the piano, and before you could even turn around to look at your sister, you started to hear her clapping behind you, thing that already made you smile...and then, you finally turned around.

“How did you like that, sister?...” You’ve been practicing for so long while in the basement, that in Remilia’s eyes, it was actually perfect. She wasn’t biased because you were her sister, no...it was actually quite difficult to please her, but is seems it was enough this time! She was genuinely impressed.

“I am impressed, Flan...to be fair, I’ve heard the notes of the piano through the years, even if I said nothing...you have great talent and you really worked hard to get there so...yes! Congratulations...that was beautiful.”

You couldn’t feel happier...at that moment, that was a big compliment for you, and it made you feel useful for once, even if it was to play the piano.

@theblueempath The girl was squatting by the road, digging up some piece of machinery.  Beside the wreckage of buildings, there was little else other than tall grass.

“You know, judging from that mask... that suit... and that cape... It’s pretty obvious what you are...”

Sumireko obviously detected that the other’s words were false, which, of course, ultimately got to her. ESPer had to get the message across that she was scary!! Sweet treats were on the line right now!!
