Mark your calendars! The opening reception for The Archive to Come, curated by NYU IDM Industry Professors Clark Buckner and Carla Gannis, is Thursday, October 22nd, 4:00 - 7:00pm [PDT]/ 7:00 - 10:00pm [EDT]. The Archive to Come is an exhibition – both on-line and in the gallery – of short time-based works that address questions of loss, memorialization, crisis, and re-invention, through the lens of contemporary networked culture and digital media. They concern the construction of memory, knowledge, experience, and power. Some questions the Archive considers: How will we memorialize those whose lives have been lost? What could do justice to the fact that so many have died needlessly, as a result of government inaction and political maneuvering, or worse, as victims of racist terror and state violence? How can we redress the unequal distribution of suffering and work to dismantle systems of oppression?
