ayy because I just remembered that I can ask - I'm contemplating making a Lady Loki dress but I need your opinion on which fabrics I should use. I live in a fairly warm country, but should be moving to America for uni sometime soon so... D: Any suggestions? I was going to go with cotton for the black, but I'm not sure about the green and gold.
Yeah for sure!  There are a couple important things you’ll want to keep in mind for choosing fabric.  The heat factor of the finished costume is one of them, if that’s important to you (I generally suffer through being way too hot in most of my costumes and once wore literal head to toe vinyl outside in the sun in Atlanta in August).  You’ll also want to consider at how the fabric moves and drapes, the texture and overall look, the fiber content, color (are you willing/able to dye it?), ease of use, care (is it washable/does it wrinkle easily?), and price.  You’ll decide which of those things is most important to you, since everyone has different preferences.  Personally, I find that drape/weight/texture and color (I do not dye fabric and never will; dye and I have a horrible relationship) are the most important to me, because I always want the finished costume to look a certain way.  I can suffer through heat and suck up the price and so be it if I have to iron that mofo every day, but if the fabric doesn’t behave right, I won’t be happy with the product. If you have reference pictures I’d be more than happy to give you some suggestions for what I might use.  It’s kind of hard to say without knowing exactly what the design is.  So feel free to submit pics and I’ll let you know what I think. :)
