The Afterworld
The first short story from This Is Real:
It is hundreds of years after the apocalypse. Humanity is trying its hardest to piece together a somewhat orderly existence. What used to be chaos has turned into a perverse form of harmony. The continents each have their own supreme ruler. Canada and Antarctica are seemingly untouched. Why? Who knows?
North America, Africa and Australia all have kings. South America and Europe each have a queen. Asia has been split into East and West. Each side has their own king. Islands like Japan, Hawaii, Puerto Rico etc. have been forgotten. Some were destroyed then rebuilt into something else.
Canada and Antarctica are free countries but have no law. Good luck living there! Is it any different from how the world has changed? One person being the supreme ruler over a vast spread of land is hardly a sufficient way of life. This has been proven time and time again throughout history. These stories are about the petty, foolish and greedy desires of the post apocalyptic kings and queens.
