Relating to your actual point, even when the average lifespan was “30″, it was never actually 30. High Infant mortality has always been the major contributor to low average lifespans. (Source). Throughout most of human history, unless you happened to live during a plague or in the middle of a warzone, once you made it out of childhood, you had pretty decent odds of living into your 50s and sixties or even older. Yes, your wealth and job and society played a big roll in that, but “average lifespan” is a mathematical trick than actually saying how long most people lived. For that, you’d want the median or the mode - the average, or ‘mean’ can get seriously screwed up by outliers.

My guess is that the Shadowmen picked young women because it was easy to control them, or so they thought. Though also my general headcanon is that slayerness depends on two X-linked genes, which is another reason it only worked on women - which creates a notion of the Showmen first trying the magic on men, perhaps, before picking women.

Bennett's eyes are Yellow, (Piss yellow, As a certain bird Fellow would say) his Hair is pitch black, His skin color is the same, for he's a creature of darkness: A demon (on his dad's side), His Skin is Also scar free, More so than Shadow's, He's more careful than him, He wears Exclusively black clothes to give the impression he's naked, because he thinks it's funny when people think that
