January 4, 2026: "Homecoming King"
Andy Biersack (also known as Andy Black) released his debut solo album, The Shadow Side, in 2016 and quite literally changed the trajectory of my life. I love this album more than anything in the world and I could not pick a favorite song if I tried, so I'm going with the first track because it's easier than picking the musical equivalent of a favorite child. I listen to this album all the time, whether I'm having a bad day and need something comforting, or if I'm in a good mood and feel like screaming along to one of my favorite songs in my car. I can't believe this album turns ten years old this year; it feels like yesterday that I was deep in my extremely edgy and rebellious adolescent emo phase (that I never truly left, if I'm honest), feeling like the only person who understood me was some rock musician from Ohio that I'd never met. Regardless, this album is fantastic from start to finish—exactly what you'd expect from the powerhouse lead singer of the Black Veil Brides.
