Edinburgh Meadows Cherry Blossom.

The blossoms, or Sakura, are treasured for their short, fleeting, and beautiful bloom, symbolizing the transience of life. The trees, which now attract visitors to walk through a "cloud" of flowers, often originate from Asia, adding a touch of international nature to the city center, which has become a major draw for both residents and visitors during springtime.

The Meadows' blossoms are part of a wider trend of "cherry blossom tourism" in Edinburgh, adding a romantic and fleeting burst of colour to the city's, rich history.

The trees were introduced in late 19th century, these colourful blooms, which are known as “Sakura” and "Kanzan" in Japanese, are hugely symbolic in Japanese culture. esenting clouds, due to their blooming en-masse, they are also symbolic of the fleeting nature of life, as their blooms are short-lived.

. Some have died and been recently replaced with the white flowering Prunus 'Kai Haku', originally from Japan, which has a completely different flower shape and colour. Not everyone is pleased with the change of cultivar and colour, we are a fussy lot in Edinburgh and don't like change, I must say the white flowering trees are n ot as nice as the pink variety.
