One thing was already wrong, she was late, two she wasn’t carrying their take-out food he had ordered and she was hiding her face, granted her blonde hair was beautiful but he much rather see her face, the way her eyes lit up when she smiled, but she was acting out of character, and despite him being human he shot over to her, by her side in an instant,
”Caroline,” he pressed closer lifting her hair from her face, his breath caught in his throat, “what happened? Who did this to you?”
She averted her gaze, ignoring the tone in his voice. She forced herself to smile, shaking her head slightly and taking a step backward. "I'm fine, Michael, it's okay." Caroline murmured. This was a mistake. She shouldn't have come home. She should have gone to her father, cleaned herself up. "It's worse than it looks," she added, stepping around him and heading for the bathroom.
