“Give me one good reason not to pull this trigger,” Amanda coughs up. It’s hardly an effective threat, balled up into a gross and measly plea.
“You’re bluffing,” Cecilia states plainly.
“You really think so?” Amanda mutters, jaw squared and clenched tight. Still not pulling that trigger, the gun serving only as a buffer, a defensive wall.
Amusement, syrupy and foggy, has Cecilia acting on impulse. Reaching up, one-handed, to trail along a scrawny arm, guiding her by the forestock with a cool hand draped over Amanda’s smaller, warmer one. The muzzle bumps up against Cecilia’s throat and slots just beneath her jaw, bobbing when she swallows thickly.
“Shoot me then. Do it.”
