The anxiety it gives you to portray your own characters as fucked up is weird and I think that's part of why I like Fallen London so much.
Like, yeah, everyone's ocs are kinda awful and have a bunch of things going on that would be considered vilification in many other contexts but. We all understand that's not the thing going on here. We all just enjoy our guys being fucked up and giving them trauma that would naturally lead to lots of bad choices and questionable or even bankrupt morality. Like, of course the jaded person who has suffered loss and isolation is jaded and the people who were given a skewed view of personhood are going to act on that view. We're all growing dandelions and weeds in our cement crack garden to see how they bend and twist and bloom into fascinating examples of a will to live in spite of it all, sometimes by fighting and killing for what little light and water they can get.
