in the toad car as soon as jesse and lake make it into well the toad car, and the flecs are trying to get jesse to open the door, he says "are you the criminal?" which implies that he was somehow previously aware of a "criminal," which also implies various possibilities for how he learned about them:

A. he saw one of the wanted posters somewhere (though I think that's unlikely, because he doesn't seem familiar with it; when he looks at the poster lake dropped it seems like he's seeing it for the first time)

B. it was part of his intro video, maybe? like "hey, just an fyi, there's a criminal on the loose!" or something. i wouldn't put it past one-one, but i also don't know if he would even be aware of something like that

C. he learned about them from a denizen

all of which are interesting but man, it's just weird to think that jesse was at least vaguely aware of lake before they met
