Unfortunately the BloodyMary brainworms have infected me as well and I need to throw this out there into the void
- Simon being the only one to call Grace "Ryland" and Rocky not understanding.
"Grace say he likes Grace name better. Grace say he no like when other people say Ryland name."
Grace being sheepish and rubbing his neck, and being like, "I know that's what i said, buddy, but I just... it's different when it's Simon."
"Different how? Question." Rocky doesn't get it after that explanation. "Simon speak name different? Not like other humans? Question."
And Grace still isn't at the point yet where he's able to admit out loud that he's in love- maybe he doesn't even realize it himself yet- so he's trying to explain that when Simon calls him "Ryland" it feels... different. It's... softer. It's special. When Simon says it, there's nothing negative behind it. He doesn't say it out of judgement or to try and scold him. He just... says it with such emotion. There's something more intimate about Simon saying it. Simon is so hurt and closed off. And Grace keeps rambling and his face feels warm and he's all flustered and then just goes, "I dunno, I just love him-" and cuts himself off as the realization finally smacks him dead in the face.
Rocky sits there listening and just goes, "Grace bad at explaining. Statement." Either unaware of or ignoring that Grace is panicking at his revelation over here. Humans stupid.
